Create Well-Being in a Chaotic World

“Remain centered within yourself instead of joining the reckless chaos around you.” Nina Sidell, M.A.

Imagine living your life one moment at a time with focus and presence, while giving your “Sacred Self” the care you need. What would your life look and feel like if you lived this way?

Times have changed and they are continually changing. The pace, topics, risks, and realities are ever-challenging and frightening. Even in that scenario, you are responsible for your life and your own well-being.

If you are a parent or caregiver, your responsibility extends to those in your care who are watching and listening to your example as a role model.

The attitude and paradigm by which you live your life on a consistent basis dictates your outcome. Past behavior typically predicts future behavior unless you work hard to eliminate or elevate your actions. If you feel like a victim, you will probably create more of the same and if you are large and in charge, you will continue on that path. Your overall well-being is your right.

Here are some useful tips to create well-being among chaos:

  1. Issue daily quiet time to reflect, go inward, and center your emotional self.
  2. Build confidence and self-worth by your consistent positive actions.
  3. Check your attitude at the door as soon as you notice self-sabotaging thoughts or behavioral patterns.
  4. Notice and if necessary correct where you place your needs in relation to circumstances or other people.
  5. Make your inner peace a high priority as part of your overall health and wellness.
  6. Find healthy outlets and supports for your challenges and emotional reactions, especially when stress feels unmanageable.
  7. Rationally assess what stressors are realistic or imminent to stay mindful of your thought patterns.
  8. Pay attention to the habits and patterns from your role models and question their veracity for you.
  9. If you are a parent, pay attention to your consistent example and modify whenever necessary.
  10. Seek out forms of relaxation and self-awareness, within and outside of your comfort zone.

Honoring the Sacred Self

“The sacred space that dwells within the self remains true and strengthened when lovingly honored.” Nina Sidell

We are all born with certain fundamental and alienable rights according to spiritual and constitutional laws. As we come into being and exist over time, each person is gifted with the right to life, happiness, and to explore, express, and honor the nature of their existence.

Life is a sacred gift. Knowing your worth as a unique person is where it all begins and ends. It means owning your individual value as you unwrap the gift of life- a pursuit and declaration precious beyond measure. With introspection and self-reflection you learn about yourself over the passage of time and life experiences. You carry yourself, include (or exclude) yourself, and understand that each of us is on a singular journey that we experience together.

No matter what someone else says or does, you deserve to honor the core of who you are. What others say or do does not predict or control what you say or do. More importantly, nothing no one says or does can create or destroy you- not really (although it may feel that way.) In our society of increased narcissism and diminished empathy, listening skills (or the lack thereof) will be reflected in the behavior of others (possibly in yourself). As a conscious and interactive person, your mind and thoughts naturally react causing psychological, emotional, and often behavioral shifts in your state of being. It is up to you how you process experiences within yourself, learn lessons, heal and strengthen your sense of well-being when you relate to others.

Honoring the Sacred Self includes:

  • Paying attention to and acting on your intuition and inner wisdom.
  • Cultivating self-respect, self-honesty, and self-compassion.
  • Crafting self-care time that heals and fortifies you.
  • Learning your life lessons to move past negative patterns and expand ways of living.
  • Eliminating unnecessary stressors and toxic influences.
  • Asking for help, support, and guidance when needed.
  • Becoming curiously introspective to find inner truth and peace.

As sensitive and social thinking creatures with working brains, physiological, and emotional states to consider, we must re-visit our internal states of being routinely.

Take good care of your sacred self and by doing so you improve your life and the lives of others by example.

Reach out to me to educate, encourage, and inspire you or your group!

Some aspects of our culture and many family dynamics do not encourage inner strength, however our sense of personal power is valid and necessary, especially to navigate the world we live in today. A person’s strengths are unique to them and are wonderful to discover and acknowledge across a lifetime. Let’s call your inner strengths, “Super Powers”! Who’s to say they’re not?

Inner strength can include: natural talents and gifts (which we all have), healthy self-worth, a positive and resilient attitude, determination and fortitude, intelligence, humor, attractiveness, being loving, caring, grateful, forgiving, open-minded, clever, brave, patient, kind, and much more. In these times and over the course of time, we have lost some of our vital human values. In particular the societal importance placed upon the family as well as the protection and guidance of children have gone awry.  In our society, children are subjected to more than overly adult, boundary-less, life-threatening, and intolerable circumstances.

Everywhere you look and listen these days, there are frightening events, Continue Reading…
