The Welfare and Protection of Our Children

We are currently living in a society where 17 shootings have occurred over the past year. Many lives have been lost and many lives have been changed forever. The sense of fear and loss has increased for all as a result of these senseless tragedies. Those who have lost loved ones and those who are directly and indirectly effected, it becomes a new normal, which feels abnormal to be dealing with. This has become the standard in the early part of the 21st Century; living with sudden, shocking and frightening events that threaten our very safety and security and way of life.

We are recoiling from the recent massacre (more…)

What is Your Part?

I recently tweeted, “We all have to do our part to make it a better world. What is your contribution? It is never too late to make a positive difference.” I pride myself on being a good person and positive contributor to other people’s lives. I do this personally and professionally and it feels like I am living my truth and life’s purpose. As I evolve and grow, so does the specificity of my purpose and life’s work or mission. I am here to help heal the world one family at a time and to help you live your best life yet! Let me show you how.

Are you inactive or actively playing your part in life as a unique contributor? What are you doing that connects you to your best self, to other’s well-being, and to the overall greater good? It is not an obligation to care for others as well as ourselves, although displaying kindness and caring, and taking positive action makes us feel better as human beings. It is time as a society to consciously plant seeds to grow love within each of us and share love outwardly into the world! (more…)

An Accidental Lesson

My trainer and I enjoyed a wonderful Wellness Expo in Philadelphia. Afterwards, we walked into a magical florist shop that pulled me in. It felt beautiful and enchanting. As we entered, a large white gazebo welcomed us, with colorful, fragrant beauties of all sorts adorning its archway. I felt an immediate air of something Angelic with delights seen and unseen- like a Garden of Eden of sorts.

We discovered many treasures including surreal floral arrangements, bright ornamental roosters and apples, and sleek bamboo plants floated in marbled water, with intricately braided root bases. The scent of roses and lilies gently wafted in the air. A long, rectangular mahogany mirror hid behind an old-fashioned wash basin and bowl.

Suddenly, a quiet, slightly built man appeared next to me with sparkling eyes and an expressive smile. This gentle shopkeeper had a delicate, elflike quality about him, as he flitted about the shop and shared his floral passions. He gave me precise walking directions to my evening destination. I thanked him saying,” I loved being inside this special placefilled with pure sweetness in every way”. We shared one last sparkly smile and when saying goodbye, he said, “God will bless you today.” I felt surprisingly moved and touched as I had not heard this expression before. I appreciate the words, “God bless you.” Wow, he actually said, “God will bless you today.” I responded in kind saying, “God bless you too”. I turned away with intense gratitude for this distinct and perhaps divine loving message.

Once outside, I told my friend, “I think he was an Angel.” She smiled in acknowledgement. We hugged, parted ways, and walked in opposite directions. As I carried my two equally-weighted bags, I felt strong and free thinking about my future.

As I continued to walk, an abrupt event changed my life forever! When I approached the median strip in the center of the massive street, I was struck while walking- on foot!  (more…)

Tips for Self-Care, and what it takes to make Mom happy

By Nina Sidell

Becoming a parent summons you to take on a variety of roles and responsibilities outside of life as you know it- including your existing obligations. Delving into new unchartered territory comes with the job description- and continues throughout time, when you are a mother.  From the beginning of your time together, until the end of your time together, as a parent you are stretched beyond singular, self-focused responsibilities, attend to the variety of needs of your child, and everyone else in your world. You become an adept juggler when you are a mother managing your world. So, when the “balancing act” of juggling stops, who takes care of you?

Being a parent is the biggest job you will ever have. As a mom, (more…)

When The Chicks Leave The Nest

As a parent you nurture and reinforce another life when your child is young. Bit-by-bit your child learns and develops, as you grow right alongside him or her in the present. It is easy and natural to stay focused on daily activities, individual, and family needs. When parenting, your energy is spent in the moments, with some future planning, yet the future of you being apart seems so very far away. Times to look forward to when caring for your little ones include: developmental milestones (physical, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual), school and peer success, learning to drive, graduating high school, going to college, and then creating a career, marriage, and family. When in the throes of parenting, thinking ahead about your child going off into their life while you get peace and quiet is a distant dream.

Emotionally, however is another story for parents when anticipating the release of a child into the world- when the time is right. (more…)

Keep Your Cool Around Hotheads

World of Psychology

How many times in your life have you dealt with a hothead? That is someone who overreacts and flies off the handle, doing so with some degree of intensity, consistency, and predictability, typically with minimal provocation. When faced with a hothead who occasionally or repeatedly blows off steam in your direction, how do you process the behavior and keep your cool?

Once you’ve spent time with a hothead, you learn to expect future over-the-top reactions. Their inappropriate intensity and lack of self-control may show up in limited or multiple scenarios. You may feel uncomfortable, even fearful and embarrassed around these people. They may be aggressive, passive with explosive tendencies, unable to appropriately handle stressful triggers, or lack healthy emotional and physical outlets.  (more…)
