“What runs the engine of your life? Be sure to fuel life choices that value and honor you.” Nina  Sidell

How do you feel about yourself? Are you aware of the specialness about you and what you deserve?

No matter your lot in life, the situations, career positions, relationships, desires and ultimate happiness directly relate to your real, true, deep opinion of yourself. It is not your fault if circumstances have challenged or failed you. It is the way in which you handle and respond to all circumstances that defines you. In many ways, your outer life reflects your inner life. It is a tall order to reflect so self-honestly, yet reflection while being truthful and open to new learning is always a useful and meaningful practice.

You must be courageous to be self-aware. Learning to improve your self-worth and act in self-loving ways is possible at any age.

When you truly love and honor yourself you know it. When you don’t, you know that too.

Here are some guidelines for ways to improve your self-worth today:

  • Having high self-regard and treating yourself in loving ways in all you do is not bragging or being arrogant.
  • It is not selfish to take care of yourself and know that you deserve care. That is called, “Healthy Selfishness”.
  • Notice your “Self-talk” or “Internal Dialogue”.
  • Keep track of the negative and positive thoughts and messages that run through your brain daily.
  • Create a plan to substitute your negative “Self-Talk” with positive “Self-Talk”.
  • Reinforce yourself with healthy acknowledgements as you grow your Self-Praise to Self-Criticism Ratio.
  • Learn how to be self-compassionate when life feels challenging, difficult, or overwhelming.
  • Write a personal affirmation using your name, in present time, with ideal practices and feelings that nurtures and empowers you.
  • Be sure that your affirmation is reasonable and believable and use only positive words and phrases.
  • Read your affirmation at least twice a day out loud and preferably while looking into a mirror.
  • Choose to be around people who support you with whom you feel “comfortable, safe, and at home”.
  • When communicating your wants and needs with others, do so with confidence and clarity.
  • Treat others with the same love and respect as you treat yourself and want to be treated.
  • Begin to notice how your life improves when you consciously and consistently treat yourself with the love you deserve.

Choose to elevate your understanding of who you are and what you deserve in life. You always have the opportunity to look inside and shine brightly!

“Once you stop learning, you start dying.” Albert Einstein This true statement begs us to open our minds to more.

No matter your age you are here to love and learn. The lessons in love and the process of deepening knowledge and ideas are vital. Human development spans a lifetime and cannot be stilted or compartmentalized with a begin and end time when it comes to presence, knowledge and learning.

Do you want to live as a lifetime learner? If so, put your mind, heart, and soul into that journey. You will find many beautiful and difficult lessons that impact the quality and meaning of your life. You will be inspired and you will inspire the lives of those around you. The trickle effect of a positive mental attitude is powerful and can improve lives.

Here are some ideas for you as a Lifetime Learner:

  • Explore the belief that you are here to Love and to Learn.
  • Say, “Yes!” to Life and all of Life’s lessons.
  • Be mindful of your Self-Talk and improve it if necessary.
  • Your curiosity exceeds your complacency.
  • You find the Journey of Life exciting and interesting with endless growth opportunities.
  • You see challenges as opportunities to learn and grow.
  • Gratitude becomes the watchword of your Life experience.
  • Your peers and you are on different journeys.
  • You are open to new ideas and practices that help you enjoy, love, and grow.
  • Self-Compassion toward the self and empathy toward others manifest healing.
  • You are responsible for your own Well-Being.
  • See that everyone is on a path to Love and to Learn.

Learn all that you can while you are here. Repair and build healthy connections in your life. Heal yourself, your relationships, and your trauma. Be open to creative soulful expression, spiritual and emotional awakening. Find insight and tools to honor your, “Sacred Self”. Empower your inner voice and “Personal Superpowers”. After all, it is your Life to explore and enjoy!

Create Well-Being in a Chaotic World

“Remain centered within yourself instead of joining the reckless chaos around you.” Nina Sidell, M.A.

Imagine living your life one moment at a time with focus and presence, while giving your “Sacred Self” the care you need. What would your life look and feel like if you lived this way?

Times have changed and they are continually changing. The pace, topics, risks, and realities are ever-challenging and frightening. Even in that scenario, you are responsible for your life and your own well-being.

If you are a parent or caregiver, your responsibility extends to those in your care who are watching and listening to your example as a role model.

The attitude and paradigm by which you live your life on a consistent basis dictates your outcome. Past behavior typically predicts future behavior unless you work hard to eliminate or elevate your actions. If you feel like a victim, you will probably create more of the same and if you are large and in charge, you will continue on that path. Your overall well-being is your right.

Here are some useful tips to create well-being among chaos:

  1. Issue daily quiet time to reflect, go inward, and center your emotional self.
  2. Build confidence and self-worth by your consistent positive actions.
  3. Check your attitude at the door as soon as you notice self-sabotaging thoughts or behavioral patterns.
  4. Notice and if necessary correct where you place your needs in relation to circumstances or other people.
  5. Make your inner peace a high priority as part of your overall health and wellness.
  6. Find healthy outlets and supports for your challenges and emotional reactions, especially when stress feels unmanageable.
  7. Rationally assess what stressors are realistic or imminent to stay mindful of your thought patterns.
  8. Pay attention to the habits and patterns from your role models and question their veracity for you.
  9. If you are a parent, pay attention to your consistent example and modify whenever necessary.
  10. Seek out forms of relaxation and self-awareness, within and outside of your comfort zone.

Do you tend to worry about things? Do you think about what you have to do, didn’t do, imagine events yet to come, or worry about yourself or your loved ones? If so, you are not alone! Many people experience some degree of over-thinking which leads to emotional overload. Often times people obsess about things and events outside of their control and it is exhausting!

It is becoming a natural part of our society to live with increased speed, stress, over stimulation, and multi-tasking. Most of us are “plugged in” to the technology marketplace while others have opted to “opt out” and remove themselves from the maniacal grid. Continue Reading…
